About Us

St John Ambulance is the nation’s leading first aid charity. Every year, 400,000 people learn how to save a life through our training programmes, including hundreds of thousands of young people. First aid is such a simple skill, but it has an incredible impact.

We provide a wide range of products and services to the community such as our workplace and community training, first aid support at events and our vital work with the emergency services with our ambulance operations. We generate around £100m per annum which we reinvest in delivering and campaigning for better access to first aid for everyone.

We are also passionate about campaigning to raise awareness of first aid so that everyone has access to lifesaving knowledge through our award-winning ad campaigns such as "The Chokeables" which is credited with saving at least 54 babies lives and recently won the Charity Film of the Year Award 2017.

About the Role

The role of Receptionist and Office Administrator is part of the Facilities team, and is responsible for the front of house duties associated with the Chelmsford Office, as well as some additional general administration / basic finance duties as assigned to them by either their manager (the Facilities Coordinator), or on ad-hoc request in support of internal stakeholders based within the office.

The successful applicant will essentially have excellent customer facing skills and experience with a professional and proactive approach to their work and others, and possess great administration skills. You will be fully responsible for the efficient and smooth running of the front of house, and ensure that the office maintains a professional and tidy appearance, whilst supporting the Facilities team and highlighting any issues. You will be remotely managed and so will need to be able to diligently manage your own workload and activities to ensure that you are being fully utilised in your role, and it is important that your interactions with others provide both a positive representation of SJA to all external visitors and be a strong ambassador for Facilities internally. You will therefore need to be resourceful, self-motivated, solution orientated, with a helpful and engaging manner.
