Save a Life September first aid awareness month launches
St John Ambulance's annual Save a
Life September campaign is part of a drive to
raise awareness of the importance of first aid.
The charity's national first aid awareness month aims to equip
people with basic first aid skills they could use
to be the difference between life and death.
First aid demonstrations delivered nationwide
Throughout September, the charity will be giving
hundreds of free first aid demonstrations in key
areas, such as shopping centres and town squares, all across the
country. The public will learn how to save a life using
five easy to follow techniques and will receive a
free pocket-sized first aid guide, to keep on them
in case of an emergency.
'We believe that no one should die because they
needed first aid and didn't get it,’ says Sue Killen, St John
Ambulance CEO, ‘which is why we are running the Save a Life
September campaign again.
‘By holding first aid demonstrations across the country, we want
to reach as many people as possible, so that more people
are equipped with the skills to save a life. Anyone who
needs first aid should get it and armed with this knowledge we can
all be the difference between a life lost and a life saved.'
St John Ambulance has revealed that up to
140,000 people die each year in
situations where first aid could have given them a chance to
