‘Strictly’ star to host Everyday Heroes

St John Ambulance is pleased to announce Tess Daly will host Everyday Heroes, the annual awards gala celebrating the nation’s life savers, on 26 March 2014 at the Lancaster London Hotel.

The Strictly Come Dancing host will honour individuals and organisations who share the leading first aid charity’s mandate that first aid can be the difference between life and death.

Tess’s advocacy for first aid training came from seeing the Save the Boy campaign, which revealed that over half of parents do not know basic first aid to save their child’s life in an emergency. In the interactive video produced for the campaign, a father is left helpless when his young son falls out of a tree and is knocked unconscious.

Tess said: ‘As a mum to two young daughters, I’ve seen my share of cut knees and bumped heads. But after seeing the charity’s Save the Boy advert I realised just how serious some childhood accidents can be – and parents can be the difference between life and death for their child by performing basic first aid before an ambulance arrives.

‘I’m thrilled to be hosting Everyday Heroes and hear the inspirational stories of this year’s nominees who have saved the lives of loved ones and strangers using first aid.’

Everyday Heroes is accepting nominations for individuals, organisations or SJA volunteers until 13 December 2013.
