Getting up close and personal at Middlesbrough FC
14 December 2016
On Thursday 1 December, our fundraising team got
together with volunteers and Middlesbrough Football Club to
hold our second behind the scenes football tour.
This special event showcased the delivery of first aid at a
typical Premier League match.
At St John Ambulance, we coordinate and deliver first aid for 96
professional football clubs across the country, taking care of
hundreds of thousands of football fans during matches. This event
was open to everyone to get a taste of our relationship with
David Pollendine, Legacy Marketing Executive, explains: 'People
had travelled from all over the North East, from places as far away
as Leeds and Newcastle and with a varying degree of connection to
either St John Ambulance or football.
'It was great to welcome a number of Cadets who attended the
event with their parents and grandparents, including William
Bulmer, a young man in a wheelchair who was familiar with St John
Ambulance and Middlesbrough FC, taking his place in the stadium for
the last 14 years. For both events, we welcomed 59 guests in total
to an experience that won’t be forgotten.'
