‘In
2011, I went on a trip to India to share
my knowledge in life saving skills with others so that
they could be the difference in their country too. I was
teaching first aid in schools and community groups. It
made me appreciate that at St John Ambulance, we work exceptionally
hard to ensure that our communities have access to up to date first
aid training.
I get a sense of pride from teaching first aid within
schools and communities – knowing that we are empowering
people to be the difference and help others. When we receive calls
to hear that this has been the case – for example a
schoolboy saved his dad when he suffered a heart attack while
playing tennis – it makes it all worthwhile.’
