NHS support

We provide nationwide support to NHS England, NHS Ambulance Services and NHS Hospitals.

Our Ambulance Operations teams have contributed to St John Ambulance delivering 1.2 million hours of support to the NHS, treating over 150,000 patients. With ambulance hubs stretching from Carlisle on the Scottish border to Brighton in the South East and Truro in the South West, St John Ambulance deploys clinicians from our Ambulance Operations teams, which includes volunteer and employed Ambulance Care Assistants (ACA), Emergency Ambulance Crew (EAC), Associate Ambulance Practitioners (AAP), IHCD Technicians and Paramedics.

  • Delivering high-quality, innovative vehicles and equipment

    Our commitment to the NHS, communities and our patients has resulted in recent investment in new vehicles and equipment and training, ensuring St John Ambulance crew are using the most up to date equipment and skills to deliver the highest quality of response and care.

  • Our Ambulance Operations training programme

    In 2021, St John Ambulance trained over 320 Emergency Ambulance Crew. Our learning academy has also delivered CERAD level 3 driver training to update current and new ambulance crew. Furthering our commitment to supporting the NHS, St John Ambulance is implementing an AAP apprentice scheme that will focus on delivering level four clinicians to areas of the country most in need. Enhancing support to our communities, the St John Ambulance AAP program will focus on providing opportunities to job seekers and young adults from disadvantaged backgrounds as well as providing an internal clinical career progression program for our EACs.
