Benefits of volunteering with us

  • Make a real difference in how we deliver our services - our leadership positions are critical in making sure our services run as effectively as possible.

  • Gain new experiences for your CV - there are lots of opportunities to practise your skills in different environments and with different teams.

  • Learn new skills - build your personal and professional skills such as decision-making, strategic thinking, communication, and team management.

  • Be part of a thriving volunteer network - you’ll get to meet new people and connect with other St John Ambulance volunteers.

Do I need previous experience of first aid?

You don't need previous first aid experience, and we welcome applications from inside and outside of St John Ambulance for many of our leadership roles. We just ask that you come with a willingness to learn, are passionate about our work, and have the ability to inspire and lead others.

If you’re unsure about a leadership role, then there are still lots of other ways you can get involved. Why not try volunteering with young people or become a Community First Aider?
