Key stage 2 first aid lesson plans and teaching resources

Key stage 2 (KS2) includes school Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6, for children aged 7 to 11.

The Department for Education recommends that KS2 pupils should know:

• How to make a clear and efficient call to the emergency services.

• Basic first aid concepts, for example dealing with common injuries such as head injuries.

We have created a set of high quality resources that you can download for free and use to teach your pupils the first aid knowledge and skills they need.

A helpful place to begin is by downloading our pathway poster and scenario cards. You can use both for display and practical lessons.

Please note: These resources are for teaching staff to use to deliver to young people. These resources are not accredited. They must not be used as a substitute for statutory workplace first aid qualifications. They do not replace formal training such as First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid at Work, which are required in professional settings.
