Key stage 4 first aid lesson plans and teaching resources

Use our free downloadable teaching resources to meet the key stage 4 first aid curriculum requirements.

Key stage 4 (KS4) covers school Year 10 and Year 11, for children aged 14 to 16.

The Department for Education recommends that KS4 pupils should know:

  • How and when to deliver CPR.

  • The concept and use of Automated External Defibrillation (AED).

We have created a set of high quality resources that you can download for free and use to teach your pupils the first aid knowledge and skills they need.

A helpful place to begin is by downloading our pathway poster and scenario cards. These can be used for both display and practical lessons.

Pupils should also know the concepts of common first aid emergencies, and you should provide them with a recap of the first aid skills taught in KS2 and KS3.

Please note: These resources are for teaching staff to use to deliver to young people. These resources are not accredited. They must not be used as a substitute for statutory workplace first aid qualifications. They do not replace formal training such as First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid at Work, which are required in professional settings.
