Become a Fundraising Volunteer

Make a real impact with little time by helping us raise vital funds to support our life-saving work

Do you have a passion for helping others?

Do you want to fundraise for projects and activities that support your local community?

Do you want to help make your community safer and more resilient through first aid?

Fundraising is an essential part of our work as a charity - and with your support we can put the power of first aid in more people’s hands.

What does a Fundraising Volunteer do?

Our Fundraising Volunteers help to organise and support fundraising activities in their local area. As a charity, we need their support in raising funds so that we can continue to deliver our life-saving work.

As a Fundraising Volunteer, you’ll be engaging people with our cause, growing our supporter base and spreading the message that first aid can save lives. You could be doing this by helping with:

  • Bucket collections

  • Door-to-door collections

  • Community engagement events

  • Corporate and legacy donations

  • Challenge events and much more!

You can take part in the fundraising activities that suit you. All we ask is that you give 24 hours over the course of a year.

As a Fundraising Volunteer, you should:

  • Have an interest in supporting your local community

  • Be able to confidently present information and engage with diverse groups of people

  • Be able to work collaboratively alongside a diverse group of volunteers.

When you join, we’ll provide:

  • An induction programme introducing you to St John Ambulance and how we work as a charity

  • Essential training including safeguarding, GDPR, and health and safety

  • Training specifically for the activities you choose to do

  • Any out-of-pocket expenses.

How long until I start volunteering?

We try to ensure that the process is as smooth and quick as possible, as we appreciate everyone who takes the time to apply. From when you first submit your application to when training begins, it can take a few weeks to get you ready to start volunteering. This is so we can do all the necessary checks and make sure that you are the right fit for the role and St John Ambulance. We will keep in touch with you at each stage of the process.
