Put the power of first aid into more hands like Laura's

When Hussain collapsed at his local cricket club, Laura was the one person who knew what to do. Her St John Ambulance training gave her the confidence and skills to act fast and help save a life.

I was now Hussain's only chance of survival, and I needed to act fast.

Laura's first aid skills helped give new father Hussain the chance to watch his baby daughter grow up after he collapsed at his local cricket club.

Less than one in ten people survive an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.

Laura hadn't even planned to be at the cricket club that day. But when Hussain collapsed and stopped breathing, she knew she had to act fast.

Thanks to her St John Ambulance training, Laura performed CPR for more than 20 minutes and used a defibrillator to help keep Hussain alive until emergency services arrived.

With your support, more people can learn lifesaving skills, gain confidence in a crisis and be ready to step forward when someone's life is on the line.

"My mum inspired me to want to help people. It feels good to know that if somebody needs medical attention, I can help support them."

Hollie, 15

"I love the opportunities we have to go on duty and the chance to make friends along the way. I like being able to use my first aid skills to help the community."
