About the Role

As a Trainer at St John Ambulance, you will be responsible for delivering and assessing a variety of First Aid and Health & Safety training courses to our workplace and community training customers.

The main requirement is to train our 1,2 and 3-day first aid courses, but we are also the country’s leading provider of Fire Marshal and IOSH Managing Safely training as well as fast-becoming a major player in mental health and wellbeing courses. All our trainers deliver the first aid suite and for that we need candidates to have a level 3 assessing and teaching/training qualification (such as CiLD).

During the Coronavirus pandemic we ceased most training however we are now building back up, have adapted our courses and implemented social distancing and other measures. We are seeing significant customer demand but need to be able to respond to the changing circumstances, especially when social distancing measures ease which will allow us to train more courses and more delegates per course. Therefore, we are ideally looking for people who are able to be flexible and adaptable. We anticipate that between November 2020 and March 2021 no Trainer will work more than 4-days per week, but there will be the option to be full time after then. We also have opportunities to work on casual terms, where you would be able to choose which courses you do - at attractive assignment rates.

Our courses receive incredible customer satisfaction ratings because we believe they are the best on the market delivered by passionate, well-trained, adaptable trainers in cohesive teams supported by expert advice and guidance. We are an organisation that truly believes in giving delegates not just the certificate, but the skills and confidence to make a difference when the time comes. We do that by making our courses interactive, enjoyable and practical as well as assessing understanding throughout the course. We also all seek to live the values of the organisation every day, those of humanity, excellence, accountability, responsiveness, and teamwork. If that sounds like something you could fit into, then please get in touch.

Most of the time you would be working in one area and on weekdays in our training venues (we have around 200 across the country), in addition you would run courses on customer premises and travel to other areas when necessary (so you need to be able to get yourself there, with the required equipment) and occasionally do courses at weekends or in the evening.
