For Sarah, a St John Ambulance first aider, that power meant she could step forward and help when someone needed her most.

That someone was Bob. On her way to meet friends for her birthday, Sarah spotted him collapsed on the floor of a busy train station. He had stopped breathing.

Thanks to her first aid training Sarah knew exactly what to do. Without hesitation she started CPR, and with the help of an AED she was able to restart Bob’s heart and keep him alive until an ambulance and paramedics arrived.

Today, Bob is still here with his family.

Sarah was able to step forward that day because she had the confidence and skills that first aid training provides.

But there still aren’t enough people like Sarah who know what to do when someone collapses or stops breathing.

Together, with your donations, we can help put the life-saving power of first aid into more hands.

£46 could help support a full Save a Life session delivered by St John volunteers, giving people the chance to learn, practise and build confidence across multiple lifesaving skills — including CPR, the recovery position and how to help someone who is choking.
