St John Ambulance works at the heart of communities, supporting and enabling them to access and receive physical and mental health first aid. We do this through developing and providing effective community response and outreach services (e.g. Ambulance response, Falls response, Night Time Economy and Homelessness outreach) and using our longstanding expertise to empower people with vital clinical skills and the confidence to use them (e.g. our Volunteers and Community Advocates, NHS Cadets and Young Responders programmes). There is also a buoyant social enterprise network which delivers first aid training and supplies medical consumables to businesses and consumers.

Job Summary

The Performance Marketing Manager is focussed on our Commercial Training and Supplies enterprises and responsible for developing and executing strategic customer acquisition digital advertising campaigns across various channels to drive measurable results aligned to St John Ambulance’s business objectives. This role involves managing budgets, optimising targeting and bidding strategies, analysing campaign performance, and implementing tactics to maximise ROI. The PMM will oversee paid search, display advertising, social media advertising, and affiliate marketing initiatives, leveraging data and analytics to continuously optimise campaigns and improve outcomes. The postholder will collaborate with cross-functional teams, communicate with stakeholders, and stay updated on industry trends and best practices to ensure effective and efficient advertising efforts that contribute to overall business growth.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent (Grade C / 4) including Maths & English, minimum 5
  • Proven track record in B2B marketing, with a specific focus on strategies to drive event occupancy and lead generation.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage accounts with an annual spend of £1m+, showing effective budget allocation, spend optimisation, and ROI improvement.
  • Proficiency in managing campaigns across major digital advertising platforms such as Google Ads, Microsoft Ads, social media, etc.

 About the Role 

  • Develop strategic plans for digital advertising campaigns across various channels, including paid search, display advertising, social media, and affiliate marketing to deliver new customer conversions and ROI for our Commercial Training and Supplies business.
  • Allocate budgets effectively across different channels to maximise ROI and achieve campaign objectives.
  • Monitor and adjust bidding strategies to ensure efficient spending and maximise campaign performance, particularly in paid search and display advertising.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement strategies to improve conversion rates on landing pages and across the customer journey, including A/B testing, landing page optimisation, and website usability enhancements.
