The Role of a Team Leader / Supervisor

A team leader/supervisor is a first line management role, with operational/project responsibilities or responsibility for managing a team to deliver a clearly defined outcome. They provide direction, instructions and guidance to ensure the achievement of set goals.  Working in the private, public or third sector and in all sizes of organisation, specific responsibilities will vary, but the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed will be the same whatever the role.

Key responsibilities are likely to include supporting, managing and developing team members, managing projects, planning and monitoring workloads and resources, delivering operational plans, resolving problems, and building relationships internally and externally.

Our Level 3 Team Leader / Supervisor Apprenticeship is made up of the following components:

 

Level 3 Diploma for Managers

The purpose of this Level 3 Diploma in Management is to provide the learner with the skills, knowledge and understanding required to work in a managerial role.

This qualification provides the learner with the opportunity to: 

  • Understand the principles of workforce management
  • Understand leadership styles and models
  • Understand the role, functions and processes of management

The Total Qualification Time (TQT) for this qualification is: 430 hours

Guided Learning (GL) for this qualification is: 260 hours

Minimum credits required to achieve the qualification: 260

Suitable for age ranges: 18+ 19+

Method of assessment                                       

Portfolio of Evidence. This qualification is internally assessed and internally quality assured by Centre staff and externally quality assured by Edexcel External Quality Advisors (EQAs)

End Point Assessment – Information:

Once your progress has been assessed and you have met all the requirements for your apprenticeship, you will then be referred for your End Point Assessment (EPA). Knowledge, skills and behaviours will be tested by an independent End Point Assessor, who will be appointed by your employer.

The outcome of your EPA test will be graded either Pass/Merit/Distinction/Fail.

Functional Skills Maths Level 2

Level 2 Award Health & Safety in the workplace

Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work

Mental Health First Aid at Work

Duration

15 months including 3 months EPA period.

Entry requirements

The entry requirement for this apprenticeship will be decided by each employer but may typically be five GCSEs at Grade C or higher.

Typical job routes

Supervisor, Team Leader, Project Officer, Shift Supervisor, Foreperson, and Shift Manager. 

Qualifications

In addition to their apprenticeship, apprentices will achieve their Level 2 functional skills in English and Maths (prior to taking the end point assessment).
